Society

Recently, I have found something wrong with society. There have always been inner problems in society, but a blatant problem has been tearing at my mind recently. This problem is the prominence and acceptance of immorality. With teenagers especially, conversation almost always contains some sexual reference or some type of drugs. Marijuana was most fortunately not legalized, although that doesn't hinder a good portion of the population. Abortion is still found to be overly necessary unwanted mothers. There is even a show called "Sixteen and Pregnant." Even within my church, many of the people I have heard of or know outside of church are involved in sexual activity or drugs or some other immoral activity. I like to think I am a fairly religious person, but I seem to be a nun compared to the rest of the population. I don't understand how especially people so young can involve themselves in such...horrifying activities. It amazes me what people can do now. Most people can't say a few phrases in a conversation without a "That's what she said," or some inside laughter over some perverted reference. I suppose it is my own, not even what I consider high morality that prevents me from understanding this..even majority it seems..of society. It honestly intimidates me and causes me to worry excessively.. I can't even do anything to prevent my fellow friends/classmates/peers/society/PEOPLE..from acting absurdly. I'm afraid I won't have any friends left, as I don't want to associate myself with such people. However, I am willing to live alone rather than become involved in this new, frightening society.

  1. Even today in English class Mrs. Gunter asked for new slang words entering into the vocabulary of the youth, and our class could hardly find anything that didn't involve cuss words or 'inappropriate' references.
Quotes are placed around inappropriate because, even though people argue that material is inappropriate, younger kids are exposed to it all the time, and know about everything at younger ages.

  3. So, it has been said that our generation will be one of the first ever not to increase in longevity. Many adults and teens take this as referring to the problems our country has with obesity, but it is much mor ethan that. With kids partaking in sex and drug abuse, before they are even adults, the prognostication that our generation will die younger has even greater truth.
